Live race coverage for the day's event was my unexpected lifeline. Guy Ohland kept me on track for where I needed to be, filled us in on all the great sponsors and provided a lot of entertaining commentary throughout the day, especially the interviews with the kids at the end of the day. Great job Guy!! Coverage is aired on 107.9 FM.
Motocrossers are dog lovers! I mean I've always seen dogs at tracks over the years, but for some reason this weekend as my daughter and I walked around we couldn't believe just how many dogs were there. I have never seen so many different types of cool dogs in one place. And, I also noticed that all of the dogs were pretty laid back - I mean they didn't even flinch as the four stroke bikes took off down the line or when kids on four wheelers were zooming by. We thought that was pretty cool!
Motocrossers love their style - I saw many of the hottest styles out there both on and off the track.
Motocrossers' need for speed doesn't stop when they pull off the track. I had to laugh when my son came back from the BMX track and said, "You know, motocross racers aren't that patient. They're always like, Come on, hurry up! when they're riding behind a kid before a jump." Actually, that need for speed probably explains why my son always says, "Come on, Mom, pass him!" while I'm driving. That reminds me, I better have a talk with him before he gets his drivers license!
These kids are scary fast! The lap times for a few of the 85cc kids were only 10 seconds off the A riders on the big bikes! Yep, I told you it was scary.
So, now we're home...the kids are back at school, the trailer is a mess, the laundry is piled high and the bikes need attention. Ah, welcome to motocross! Meanwhile, we can't wait for next weekend!
