The 125/250 & Open A Classes were stacked, but the best talent was all up front with Tyler Smulders and Matty Maiers duking it out in all three classes going back and forth all day long.
Tyler ended up getting the upper hand on Matty, but it was so fun to watch these guys tear it up.
Cody raced in the 85cc 12-15 class and finished second to a very fast Illinios rider, Dale Kathan, #420 if you can see the blur of his number flying by you.
Not only is he super fast, he is a genuine nice guy too. A friend took a three shot burst of Cody getting the holeshot over Dale (see pics labelled azzie holeshot) and then the game was on!
Cody was in the lead until a nasty off camber corner. Cody went to the inside to protect his line, but Dale had other plans taking the outside line and was on the gas hard!. he managed to take the number one spot from Cody and hold on to it for the rest of the moto. Dale and Cody checked out from the rest of the pack of twenty two riders.
The second moto was a repeat of the first. With Cody in tow, Dale led the way to the checkers and they both had a great time. Hot, maybe a little tired, (although neither one will ever admit to that.)
It was great to be in the air conditioned truck for the two hour ride home and even better to hit the shower and bed afterwards.
